Big Brother Naija, formerly known as Big Brother Nigeria, is a Nigerian reality competition television series, based on the Big Brother television franchise, in which, contestants live in an isolated house and compete for a large cash prize and other material prizes, at the end of the show by avoiding being evicted from the house by viewers who vote for their favourite housemates to remain in the show.

The first season of the show first aired on M-Net and DStv Channel 37 from 5 March to 4 June 2006. The voting results were verified by the auditing company of Alexander-Forbes.

1. BBNaija Season 1 (2006):

This was the inaugural season of BBNaija, which originally aired as “Big Brother Nigeria.” It was hosted by Olisa Adibua and Michelle Dede.

2. BBNaija Season 2 (2017):

After an 11-year hiatus, BBNaija made a comeback with its second season, which was tagged “See Gobe.” The season was hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and marked the show’s rebranding as “Big Brother Naija.”

3. BBNaija Season 3 (2018):

The third season of BBNaija, titled “Double Wahala,” garnered significant attention and popularity. It featured a new set of housemates and was hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.

4. BBNaija Season 4 (2019):

Known as “Pepper Dem,” the fourth season of BBNaija brought a fresh batch of housemates and intense drama to the screens. Ebuka Obi-Uchendu returned as the host.

5. BBNaija Season 5 (2020):

This season, named “Lockdown,” was highly anticipated and marked the show’s fifth edition. It introduced a new set of housemates and continued to captivate viewers with its twists and turns. Ebuka Obi-Uchendu resumed his hosting duties.

6. BBNaija Season 6 (2021):

The most recent season, titled “Shine Ya Eye,” premiered in July 2021. It featured a new group of housemates vying for the coveted prize. Ebuka Obi-Uchendu continued as the host for the sixth consecutive season.

7. BBNaija Season 7 (2022):

Big Brother Naija Season 7 also known as Big Brother Naija: Level Up was the seventh season of the Nigerian version of the reality show Big Brother. It premiered on 23 and 24 July 2022 on DStv channel 198/199 and GOtv channel 8/29. Ebuka Obi-Uchendu returned as the host for the 6th consecutive time.

The headline sponsor of the show was Pocket by Piggyvest and the associate sponsor was Flutterwave.

According to the organizers of the show MultiChoice, the winner of the season is expected to win a total of ₦100 million grand prize which includes a N50m cash prize and ₦50m worth of prizes from sponsors.
